Description
Located in the centre of the Medieval village of Verucchio, 15 Km from Rimini, this building, constructed in the 1700Õs on the ruins of a sixteenth century church and completely renovated in 2001 with a high expectancy in workmanship and material, offers a remarkable view over the picturesque countryside of ÒValle del MarecchiaÓ. Villages, castles, and small country churches erected on the remains of ancient constructions from the Pre-Etruscan Villanovan era are proof of the rich historical assets of this corner of Romagna where roads scour the land tracing thousand-year old grooves under the shade of lindens and oaks. Verucchio is easy to reach. The nearby A14 highway (about 10 km away), gives easy access to Bologna or Ancona in about 45 minutes. The small Republic of San Marino is only 5 Km from the townÕs centre. The completely renovated three-storey building has a lime-plastered facade recapturing the colour shades used in the eighteenth century. There are two entrances, one on the cobblestone pedestrian street that skirts the ancient walls around the moat and the other in via S.Agostino, street restricted to residential traffic, where the Archaeological Museum and Picture gallery of Verucchio are located. Access to the lower level is right in front of the ancient Medieval stronghold. Across a small courtyard with a breathtaking view of Valmarecchia is an enormous 100 sq. meter stone-wall room with its original tile floor and chestnut wood ceiling beams. Here, a kitchen, laundry room and bath have been designed with particularly effective architectural solutions. To the west on this level is an entrance to another small, elegantly landscaped garden. A nineteenth century stone stairway lead to the upper level that includes 3 spacious bedrooms, three baths and a small study with chestnut wood ceiling beams and antique oak hardwood floors. Stairs lead from the hallway to the top floor that includes a kitchen, study and 50 sq. meter living room with vaulted ceiling, antique oak hardwood floor, nineteenth century stone fireplace and one of the best views on the Marecchia valley in Verucchio. A large public car park is only 30 meters away.Full renovations were completed in 2001, maintaining most of the original building structure intact. Beams and floorboards are made of chestnut wood and the window frames, with four layers of athermic and reinforced glass, were produced and installed by one of the best Brianza craftsmen. The roof with antique tiles was built using Isotec technology that provides both excellent insulation and adequate ventilation. Additionally, in the event tiles break, an exclusive drip system prevents water infiltration. The heart of the water-heating system is based on a modern Viessmann boiler mod. Vitocrossal 300 with a 300 lt tank, water softener device by Culligan and multi-layered nylon/aluminium pipes. The two upper levels are heated by a floor heating system created by Velta with ecological cork insulation panels while the ground floor is heated by elegant wall heaters by Brem. Faucets were selected from amongst the most prestigious brands from both the quality and design standpoints including Dorn Bracht, Rapsel, Philippe Stark. Several centralised vacuum points are available on all floors. All the rooms have be pre-wired with special connections for computers to permit an internal network in Client/Server configuration with network/printer/internet/satellite access points in every room. Antique woodwork, hand-planed by expert craftsmen, have been included in the ground floor living room, kitchen and laundry room with gravel countertops. Other custom-made wood and metal works are found throughout the house. The building is protected by a sophisticated burglary alarm.
